North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust is the latest organisation to recognise the benefits of fast-tracking technology as it partners with Idox Health to rollout the iFIT iRecords platform.
The efficient tracking of medical notes across the Trust’s two hospitals has been something North Cumbria has aspired to achieve for some time. The implementation of iRecords – a modern logistics management platform – will be pivotal in providing a ‘breadcrumb trail’ of health record movement, enabling the Trust to file, track and locate records far quicker than before.
As a result, iRecords – which includes RFID tracking – will enhance patient safety and care by reducing the volume of temporary notes created and ensuring notes are available when needed. Clinical notes will also be more readily available for Clinical Coding, Audit and other ad-hoc requests.
Natalie Karam, Head of Performance and Information at North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust said: “The movement of medical records around the Trust directly affects patient care if they are not available at the right time, in the right place. While the Trust works to transition to digital solutions, paper notes continue to play a significant role in patient care and we need to deliver them with accuracy and timeliness.”
As well as providing Trust-wide GS1 compliance to meet The Department of Health’s eProcurement strategy mandate deadlines, the technology provides the Trust with flexibility to scale and track other assets including medical devices, prescriptions, patients and staff.
